The casino wheel can be spun by using Casino 
Chips. One chip will get you one spin, unless you have VIP2, which allows the option to receive 10 spins for 8 chips.
In general, the casino is a terrible way to get 5★ heroes, as the odds are 1/1000.
The casino is a great source for 
Gold and 
Spirit, as they are the two most common rewards.

Each resource can appear in one of three quantities which change on each refresh. From left to right the chance for a certain quantity to appear on refresh is 55%/45%/5%. So if you're going to do a lot of spins (e.g. for the Casino event) it pays of to do a couple of free refreshes before you get the biggest amount of the resource you need most.
You can refresh the slots on the casino once every 3 hours for free, after that 50 
Gems are required.
24 hours after the last refresh there will be a forced refresh the next time you access the screen (done automaticaly in the background, reseting the countdown).

Luck Coins. you get 10 from 1 spin and 100 from the 8 spin version.
Luck Coins are a currency used in the casino store in the top right conner of the Common Casino (denoted by 2 coins on a purple background).
You can refresh the slots on the casino store once every 24 hours for free, after that 50 Luck Coins are required.

Super Casino
The Super Casino unlocks at Level 80 or when reaching VIP3 as a part of the Casino. The wheel can be spun by using Super chip Super chips. One chip will get you one spin.
You can refresh the slots on the casino once every 3 hours for free, after that 100 Gems are required.
24 hours after the last spin there will be a forced spin the next time you access the screen (done automaticaly in the background, reseting the countdown)..
As of this writing, the spins in Super Casino does not count towards the normal Casino events.
